With newcomers disappointing at the box office this weekend, the door was open for the holdovers to replicate their opening weekend success.
Coming in the top spot again is Finding Dory with $73.2 million. That’s only a 45.8 percent drop from its record setting opening, illustrating that the latest from Pixar Animation Studios unsurprisingly has strong legs. As one of the best reviewed films of the summer, Dory has found the widespread appeal that many offerings this year have craved. Its current domestic total stands at $286.5 million and it’s nearly at $400 million worldwide. There’s a good chance it becomes Disney’s latest $1 billion hit of 2016.
