After premiering at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and competing for the Palme D’Or, period drama Loving has since gone on to generate significant praise. Written and directed by acclaimed independent filmmaker Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special), the film stars Joel Edgerton (Black Mass) and Ruth Negga (Preacher) as Richard and Mildred Loving, whose interracial marriage to one another in 1967 Virginia caused unrest and brought about the eventual invalidation of state laws prohibiting mixed race couples from engaging in cohabitation and having children with one another.
Based on the amount of talent involved, Loving seems like be another bold step forward for Nichols. The court case of Loving v.
