Warren Beatty’s biopic of Howard Hughes has been gestating for a long time, mostly in secret. Originally greenlit five years ago and passed around a couple of different studios, the film has been in release date limbo for a long time, and didn’t even have a title until recently.
The film, written, directed by and starring the 79-year-old Beatty, marks the longtime star’s first movie acting role since Town and Country 15 years ago, and his first film as director since Bulworth, 18 years ago. It’s set in the 1950s and focuses on Hughes’ time as a Hollywood producer. Now, we know what it’s called – Rules Don’t Apply – and when it’s coming out, this November. And we have our first look at it.
