Making a comic book movie is an inexact science, and one that is continually evolving with multiple major studios contributing one or two new blockbusters apiece every year. While there is still plenty of room to grow within the genre, Marvel Studios has been a trailblazer in the industry, nearly perfecting the superhero movie formula in the modern age.
This past May, Marvel released the thirteenth film in the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Civil War, with close to universal acclaim. The studio has been in the driver’s seat for years, with a string of hit movies that has built up a reservoir of goodwill amongst audiences and critics alike.
