Penny Dreadful Cast1 Penny Dreadful to Continue as Comic Book Series in 2017

In its three seasons on Showtime, Penny Dreadful amassed a devoted cult following that avidly consumed every powerful, wicked, and heart-wrenching moment of the cursed life of Vanessa Ives (Eva Green). The lush, gothic series combined classic monsters, violent and graphic horror, and poetic dialogue that was a tribute to Victorian literature. The meandering nature of the show and devotion to extremely detailed character arcs earned both praise and criticism from viewers.

Those who stuck by the show were stunned by the season 3 finale, which brought an abrupt halt to Vanessa’s suffering and concluded with “The End” literally spelled out on screen. Without so much as a hint in the news beforehand, fans simultaneously discovered that their favorite show was ...

Xbox One VR Xbox Boss Takes Shot At Current State of VR

Virtual reality technology has been promised as the next big evolutionary leap for interactive gaming since the early 1990s, but only recently has it seemed to take any real hold with the advent of high-end devices like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Playstation VR devices. But while much of the games industry has enthusiastically chased this new trend, some prominent voices have remained skeptical of whether VR will finally deliver long-term.

Fans may be interested in playing games with the newest technology available to them, but they may have to question those desires after one more prominent name is added to the list of skeptics: Xbox’s Phil Spencer.

In an interview with Stevivor, Spencer expanded on why the upcoming Xbox Scorpio ...

Green Arrow is Stephen Amell Arrow Season 5 Images & Synopsis Introduce Human Target

It’s been a year of changes for the Arrowverse. On The Flash, Barry’s trip through time has altered his reality in ways he’s only just beginning to learn about. Meanwhile in Supergirl, while Cat Grant is away, there are a number of new characters in town, including Lena Luthor, Maggie Sawyer, Miss Martian and Mon-El. And Legends of Tomorrow has benefited from the inclusion of the JSA (the Justice Society of America).

Yet no series has perhaps changed more than Arrow, as Oliver Queen’s friends are divided now more than ever before. Felicity, Thea and Diggle are each pursuing their own lives, rather than fighting criminals on Team Arrow, leaving Oliver to build a new team by recruiting ...

Benedict Samuel in Gotham3 Gotham: Red Queen Review & Discussion

[This is a review of Gotham season 3, episode 7. There will be SPOILERS.]

Gotham season 3 finally threatens to live up to its “Mad City” subtitle this week, as Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) plots to release his sister’s blood as a citywide virus driving Gotham residents into insanity. So far, four of this season’s seven episodes have centered on the future Mad Hatter, and after last week’s more focused revenge plot against Gordon, the character continues to grow more ambitious with each appearance. Naturally, that also means Gotham gets to squeeze into another reference to the works of Wonderland author Lewis Carroll. Oh, and Gordon takes a hallucinogenic trip of his own that may actually see the character evolve at long last.

New Wonder Woman Trailer To Play in Theaters With Doctor Strange

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Doctor Strange, is set to arrive on North American screens this weekend, with positive early word of mouth and high expectations. Meanwhile, the next film in the rival DCEU, Wonder Woman, is scheduled to arrive next June, giving a full showcase to Gal Gadot’s interpretation of the superhero character.

The two separate rival universes may represent the product of different corporations, different movie studios, different comic book publishers, and very different core cinematic styles. But despite all that, Marvel and DC film releases do tend to play the same movie theaters. And now, the latest blockbuster movie of one will be advertised prior to the other.

The new trailer for Wonder ...

The HBO new series Westworld can scarcely play a standalone scene without inspiring a litany of online guesses and hypotheses. Indeed, the programming president of Home Box Office, Casey Bloys, admitted that fan theories are “getting close” to uncovering the truth about the titular theme park. Fan theories about the inner workings of Westworld and the secrets that has so far only been hinted at aside, one question may take precedence over all others: Who is Arnold?

While every character has a slew of unanswered questions, Arnold remains the most mysterious of all. The alleged co-creator of the park appears to be the biggest piece required to solving the Westworld puzzle. Is he really dead? Is Dolores speaking with ...

Halloween is always the best time of year to become something you would otherwise never be. Social media has made sharing those experiences exponentially easier, particularly for those who go all out for their costumes. Some famous celebrities, notably supermodel Heidi Klum, have taken advantage of their considerable resources to deliver mind-blowing Halloween get-ups. Colton Haynes (Arrow) is another such example.

The actor has gone viral with some incredibly detailed Halloween costumes in recent years. In 2014 he covered himself in green makeup and prosthetics as he became Princess Fiona from Shrek. In 2015, he transformed himself into Little Mermaid villainess Ursula. His latest Halloween costume was along the same lines in terms of theme, and it may ...

Cruel Intentions Revival

Cruel Intentions Revival Cruel Intentions TV Series Not Moving Forward At NBC

Not long ago, NBC floated the idea of bringing a Cruel Intentions series to television. The series was intended to serve as both a sequel and soft reboot of the franchise, set 15 years after the events of the film. Sarah Michelle Gellar was confirmed to reprise her character Kathryn Valmont, and director Roger Kumble even returned to write and direct the now dead pilot. But now, after several months of radio silence it appears the series is no longer moving forward at the network.

Had the series gone to air, it would have followed the adventures of Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), the child of Stephen Valmont (Ryan Phillipe) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon) from the original ...

It’s that time of year again, when ghosts and ghouls come out to play and cosplay is embraced by everyone. Halloween also serves as a reflection of the past year and everything that has happened in it, with popular costumes from the past weekend including Stranger Things‘ Eleven and Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn. In the opening crawl for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, viewers read that Luke Skywalker had vanished. By the time that film ended, the old Jedi Master was found by Rey on the planet Ahch-To in apparent self-imposed isolation, being asked to take his old lightsaber and rejoin the fight. The Lucasfilm story group has not revealed much of what Luke has been up to since Return of the Jedi, which makes the character’s appearance in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII all the more anticipated. So many questions remain that need answering, and luckily fans don’t have that long to wait until the film’s December 2017 premiere.

Until then, moviegoers will have to make do with the rumor mill, which has ...

While a decision regarding the fate of a sequel is still officially up in the air, Feig himself is hopeful he’ll get the chance to helm another ghost-busting adventure.

In recent years, Walt Disney Studios has taken to adapting its animated classics to live-action with success both at the box office as well as with critics and casual moviegoers. Disney’s live-action fairytales have either been reinventions of the classic stories — as was the case with both Alice in Wonderland (which received an unsuccessful sequel earlier this year, Alice Through the Looking Glass) and Maleficent — or fairly strict adaptations, such as Cinderella and The Jungle Book.

Disney has a number of other live-action adaptations of animated classics in various stages of development, including a new take on the story of MulanJon Favreau’s ...

Sonic Tails and Knuckles on the Cover of Sonic Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Being Developed by Deadpool Director

In 1991, the popular video game Sonic the Hedgehog was released on Sega Genesis. The game was a runaway success, and was the first of over a dozen titles featuring the Sonic character. Sonic, an anthropomorphic hedgehog who could run at (obviously) sonic speeds, became one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, and was largely responsible for Sega’s success during the 1990s. The character’s popularity eventually led to two animated series in 1993, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Considering Hollywood’s continued interest in established characters, it should come as no surprise that Sony has announced plans to develop a hybrid live-action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The film was confirmed to ...

Stranger Things Viral Video: The Search for Barb is Underway

Stranger Things Barb

If anyone is in need of proof as to exactly how huge the Netflix original series Stranger Things is, look no further than Halloween 2016. The number of costumes inspired by the nostalgic sci-fi/adventure series are everywhere. It seems people love discussing and paying tribute to the series almost as much as they love watching it.

Although the popularity of the cast of characters is a given, some stand above the others. But the popularity of someone like Barb Holland – the bespectacled best friend of Nancy Wheeler – gained cult-like status after she disappeared into the Upside Down, never to be seen again. Barb’s death came as a genuine shock and was even the source of some indignation when the first series finished without much of an investigation by Hawkins authorities into what exactly happened to her.

Well aware of Barb’s fan base, Netflix has offered a ...

The last few weeks have been tough on directors of upcoming superhero movies. Fox recently lost director Tim Miller for Deadpool 2 due to creative differences, and now Warner Bros. has met a similar speed bump in the next phase of its extended universe. Although things have been looking good with DC thanks to Wonder WomanJustice League, and Ben Affleck’s upcoming solo film The Batman, the fastest hero alive is having a tough time getting his solo film off the starting block.

Dope director Rick Famuyiwa joined The Flash earlier this year after the project parted ways with previous director Seth Grahame-Smith. The announcement was met with general praise, and all signs pointed towards the production moving full steam ahead. Now it looks as though The Flash is back to square one.

Khary Payton in The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 2 How The Kingdom Changes The Walking Dead

[This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead season 7, episode 2.]

After last week’s absolutely brutal premiere, in which The Walking Dead killed not one but two major characters, this week’s episode, ‘The Well’, offers a respite from the violence and grief that’s become the show’s calling card. Never once does it reference the horrors Rick and the survivors (as well viewers) were made to witness last week; instead, depicting an entirely different world, one whose outlook was not wholly governed by fear or cruelty, but hope and aspiration.

If The Walking Dead season 7 premiere was intended to show a leader and his people at their lowest, then introducing Ezekiel and The Kingdom only an ...

Christopher Nolan Dunkirk IMAX Christopher Nolans Dunkirk Getting Early 35mm & 70mm Releases

Christopher Nolan, like many of his directorial contemporaries, is a proponent of film over digital in regards to how a movie is presented. The pros of digital filmmaking have been well-documented over the years, but a number of people working in the industry prefer to shoot their projects on film stock, fighting to keep the format alive because they feel its quality is superior. For this reason, Nolan chose to film his latest work, the World War II drama Dunkirk, on 65mm stock.

Unfortunately for filmmakers in Nolan’s camp, many theaters are not equipped to show movies this way, having updated to digital projectors years ago as technology evolved. Since a number of locations have moved on, so to speak, the chance ...

While we can hope director Michael Bay brings some fresh ideas to Transformers: The Last Knight, there are some things that don’t change. Yes, for whatever reason, the film will feature the presence of King Arthur and Nazis, but you can also expect many returning actors, Transformers characters and much of the same filmmaking team to provide what audiences have come to expect from these movies. This also means hearing some familiar sounds.
